About PSEB

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) was established in 1969 by the Government of Punjab through the Punjab School Education Board Act. It is the state education board of Punjab, responsible for determining the policy-related, administrative, cognitive, and intellectual direction of the state's secondary and higher secondary educational system.

PSEB conducts the Matriculation (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) examinations twice a year and regulates school education across Punjab. The board has been instrumental in shaping the educational landscape of Punjab for over five decades, ensuring quality education through standardized curriculum, fair examination practices, and continuous innovation in teaching methodologies.

Background

Punjab State Open School (PSOS) is a Government of Punjab initiative under the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) to provide open and distance education to students unable to pursue formal schooling. Continuing the legacy of PSEB since 1969, PSOS offers flexible learning opportunities with recognized certifications across all districts of Punjab.

PSOS serves as a vital alternative for students who cannot attend regular schools due to financial constraints, geographical barriers, early employment, or personal circumstances. The certificates issued by PSOS hold the same validity and recognition as those issued by the formal education system under PSEB.

Our Journey

1969 - PSEB Establishment

Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) established by the Government of Punjab through the Punjab School Education Board Act to regulate and develop school education across the state.

1970 - First Examinations

PSEB conducted its first Matriculation (Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 12) examinations, setting the foundation for standardized education in Punjab.

1980-2000 - Expansion Era

PSEB expanded its reach across all districts of Punjab, introducing new subjects, vocational streams, and modern examination methods.

2005 - Open Schooling Initiative

PSEB initiated the concept of open schooling to reach out-of-school students, working professionals, and learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.

2011 - PSOS Formal Launch

Punjab State Open School (PSOS) formally launched as an autonomous open schooling board under PSEB, offering Secondary and Senior Secondary programs.

2015 - Digital Transformation

Introduced online admission system, digital student records management, and e-learning resources for students across Punjab.

2020 - Online Services

Launched online result verification and certificate authentication portal for complete transparency.

2024 - Present Day

Serving thousands of students across Punjab with multiple study centers, enhanced digital infrastructure, and continued commitment to PSEB's 55+ year legacy.
